Waiting on Wednesday weekly event that spotlights upcoming-releases that bloggers are most excited about. This week’s I-can’t-wait book is: Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel . Second Star will be released on May 13, 2014 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR).
About the Book
A twisty story about love, loss, and lies, this contemporary oceanside adventure is tinged with a touch of dark magic as it follows seventeen-year-old Wendy Darling on a search for her missing surfer brothers. Wendy’s journey leads her to a mysterious hidden cove inhabited by a tribe of young renegade surfers, most of them runaways like her brothers. Wendy is instantly drawn to the cove’s charismatic leader, Pete, but her search also points her toward Pete’s nemesis, the drug-dealing Jas. Enigmatic, dangerous, and handsome, Jas pulls Wendy in even as she’s falling hard for Pete. A radical reinvention of a classic, Second Star is an irresistible summer romance about two young men who have yet to grow up–and the troubled beauty trapped between them. (From Goodreads.com)
Why I’m Waiting
I love Peter Pan. It was one of my favorite Disney fairy tales and even though Once Upon a Time made Peter Pan the most evil villain on the show to date, I’m still pro-Peter Pan. So, this contemporary retelling is definitely up my alley!
Get It!

2014 is definitely the year of retellings. Two of my favorite stories – Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz!
Yes yes yes! I’m totally waiting on this as well. I love any Peter Pan related stories, so this one sounds good, especially since it sounds so contemporary. Great choice! Here’s my WOW post.
Yep! Surfing Peter Pan, sign me up!

A Peter Pan retelling is definitely unusual, and therefore interesting. Thanks for sharing! 😀

This one sounds terrific. I really like that it’s a fairy tale retelling set in Modern times. I really like the sound of this one.
