Waiting on Wednesday weekly event that spotlights upcoming-releases that bloggers are most excited about. This week’s I-can’t-wait book is: Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham . Someday, Someday Maybe will be released in paperback on March 25, 2014 by Ballatine Books.
About the Book
A charming and laugh-out-loud novel by Lauren Graham, beloved star of Parenthood and Gilmore Girls, about an aspiring actress trying to make it in mid-nineties New York City.
Franny Banks is a struggling actress in New York City, with just six months left of the three year deadline she gave herself to succeed. But so far, all she has to show for her efforts is a single line in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters and a degrading waitressing job. She lives in Brooklyn with two roommates-Jane, her best friend from college, and Dan, a sci-fi writer, who is very definitely not boyfriend material-and is struggling with her feelings for a suspiciously charming guy in her acting class, all while trying to find a hair-product cocktail that actually works.
Meanwhile, she dreams of doing “important” work, but only ever seems to get auditions for dishwashing liquid and peanut butter commercials. It’s hard to tell if she’ll run out of time or money first, but either way, failure would mean facing the fact that she has absolutely no skills to make it in the real world. Her father wants her to come home and teach, her agent won’t call her back, and her classmate Penelope, who seems supportive, might just turn out to be her toughest competition yet.
Someday, Someday, Maybe is a funny and charming debut about finding yourself, finding love, and, most difficult of all, finding an acting job. (From Goodreads.com)
Why I’m Waiting
Yes, yes, I realize this book is out and has been out for awhile. HOWEVER, the paperback version is releasing in March.
I am the biggest Lauren Graham fan. I mean, honestly, I would watch her read the phone book, because I know that it would be THAT entertaining. Gilmore Girls is and always will be my very favorite show, and much of that is due to the quirk personality and quick-witted tongue of LG. And she was a major selling point for me to start watching Parenthood (which has so many good things going for it — another gush for another day!) SO when I found out she wrote a book, I was 100% in. Not only is the book by someone I like as an actress, but it has a premise that I would love reading without the celebrity backing.
However, being broke most of 2013, I couldn’t afford the hardback copy — so I’ve been waiting FOREVER for the paperback version to print. And then I won a book in a giveaway, so I requested THIS one. Which means, I will definitely, for sure be getting this book in March.
And I am jumping up and down with excitement and glee. I just CANNOT wait!!
