It’s Top 10 Tuesday (hosted at The Broke and the Bookish) and the topic is:
Top Ten Worlds Books That Made Me Cry
Yeah, so this is awkward. I have a thing about books that make you cry. I kind of seek them out. Why? I don’t know. I like to torment myself, I suppose. When I went to make this post, I counted 48 books in my Goodreads that could be on this post. And that was grouping series as one book. So, obviously I have issues. And this post was incredible difficult to choose just ten.
Top Ten Books That Made Me Cry
¨
Here’s ten that most profoundly affected me.
¨
1. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
Sure, there were a lot of moments to cry in this series, but that last sentence put me in a book coma for weeks. There were no more words to the story. It was finished.
2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
You don’t pick up this book without knowing what you are getting in to — a girl in between life and death. Should she stay and face the pain or go and die in peace.
3. Night by Elie Wiesel
I read this book over 15 years ago and it affected in me in such a way that I will never forget its impact.
4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I don’t think this needs any explaining.
5. Never Let Me Go
Possibly one of the most under the radar books I’ve ever read. While the movie is touching, it doesn’t hold a candle to the book. If you like science fiction and the implications of genetics, the meaning of humanity, and our future with those things, this book is a must-read.
6. Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock
This book just tore my heart up from the first page. A gripping look inside the mind of a boy who plans to kill a classmate and himself.
7. Solitary
Travis Thrasher, you really ripped my heart out with this book. The book is creepy, intense, and isn’t afraid to GO THERE.
8. Mockingjay
Too many things happened in this book to name them all, but there were many, many tears.
9. With All My Soul
The end to the Soul Screamers series broke my heart and I am still not over it a year later. It was a brave, bold choice and I applaud Rachel Vincent for every minute of it.
10. Allegiant
I don’t want to talk about it.

So, that’s it. What are some book have you ugly cried over?
Great list! I have Never Let Me Go in my to-read category, but I never get to it. You’ve convinced me to get on it!
It was just so shocking and beautifully written. If you’ve read/watched Atonement, it is by the same author.
I hope you enjoy it (and cry as much) as I did!
TFIOS is making tons of lists. OMG With All My Soul! Wow that book was amazing. It made my list too 🙂
Yeah, I’m guessing the only list it isn’t on is that of people who didn’t read it, lol.
And WAMS, I just… that broke my heart. Never has an ending broke my heart like that. So ❤
Oh no, that’s the second time I see ‘With all my soul’ and I haven’t read it yet and I’m getting more and more afraid of doing so.
Okay, so yes it made me cry, but I LOVED it. It also made my top ten favorites of 2013! Don’t be afraid, it’s one of the best series enders I’ve read.
But yeah, you will need tissues.
I read NIGHT by Elie Wiesel back when my sons were in school, and it was required reading for them. I enjoyed it, but it was a very heavy storyline. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green is on my desk in my TBR pile. You’ve chosen some great books here.
Great picks. If I Stay made my list too, such an emotional and beautiful book. I also picked Deathly Hallows, I pretty much cry from beginning to end when reading that. My TTT 🙂
Deathly Hallows, If I Stay are on my list too. If I Stay just really broke my heart into pieces. It was, to say the least, an emotional roller-coaster.
Here’s my TTT post 🙂

The Fault in Our Stars was on my list too, what a tearjerker! Never Let Me Go…what an emotional and disturbing book. And Allegiant…probably should have put it on my list but I was just thinking that what I was reading wasn’t actually happening, I was just in shock and basically going…what? What???? So I didn’t cry. And I’m like you, I just don’t want to talk about it. Ahhhhhhh!
Oh maaaaaan, NEVER LET ME GO had me bawling like a child. I didn’t even like it at first — it was required reading for a class in which I was an assistant teacher. But by the end of it, I’d fallen in love with the story and used quite a few tissues.
Great, awesome, amazing list.
