Waiting on Wednesday (34)

Waiting on Wednesday weekly event that spotlights upcoming-releases that bloggers are most excited about.  This week’s I-can’t-wait book is: Wicked Games by Sean Olin.  Wicked Games will be released on June 10, 2014 by HarperCollins.

About the Book

An edgy, realistic, and utterly captivating novel from an exciting new voice in teen fiction.

Alexi Littrell hasn’t told anyone what happened to her over the summer. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.

When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in “the Kool-Aid Kid,” who has secrets of his own. As they lean on each other for support, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her find the courage to finally face the truth.

A searing, poignant book, Faking Normal is the extraordinary debut novel from an exciting new author-Courtney C. Stevens. (From Goodreads.com)

Why I’m Waiting

The idea of hiding pain is something familiar to me and I love the idea of the concept within books. This book offers that sense of “I don’t belong here” and psychotic ambience of mental instability. But where there is pain and unacceptance, there is a character who can understand exactly what you are going through and together, you will conquer the demons and strengthen your bond together. In her first novel, all of these attributes are there and I can’t wait to get lost into the depths of what is to come.
