Waiting on Wednesday (35)

Waiting on Wednesday weekly event that spotlights upcoming-releases that bloggers are most excited about.  This week’s I-can’t-wait book is: City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare.  City of Heavenly Fire will be released on May 27, 2014 (and none too soon) by Margaret K. McElderry publishers.

About the Book

I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series! (From Goodreads.com)

Why We’re Waiting

This is a mutual Waiting on Wednesday.  Loren has been reading the TMI series and we read the last book together.  Now, we’re both obsessively waiting for City of Heavenly Fire.  We’ve talked about it practically every day for over a month.  We’ve been speculating, picking Sebastian (whom Loren affectionately calls Bass) actors, and reading all the spoilers/snippets we can get our hands on.  At this point, I am starting to see runes on the walls (okay, so it is really just my son’s crayon scribbles, but yaknowwhatimean).  It’s not just a want, it’s a need.  We NEED this book. Right now.

As of right now, you can find me on the floor curled up in the fetal position letting all my feels take over my body–yes, that is what Cassandra Clare did to me at the end of City of Lost Souls. Can I blame her? Of course, but I guess I can see why she had to do it. I am waiting on City of Heavenly Fire, because I need my pain to be lessened, plus I have to know what is going to happen with Clary and Jace, Alec and Magnus (because I still don’t think that is a done deal), and Isabelle and Simon. Also, I want to know if Sebastian will forever be on the dark side or will he cross over to the light to be with his mother and sister. There are so many unanswered questions that I need answered and I hope, oh man, I hope they will all be answered with this epic bounding of lovely pages.

  1. I am so excited for this book! It looks amazing, although I’ll probably be crying buckets of tears by the end of it. Especially if Magnus and Alex don’t get back together.

    • We can cry together. Malec is one of my favorites due in part of Magnus, but dang it! he deserves to be happy too, and if Alec is the one to supply that happiness, then so be it. If Malec doesn’t happen, I am going to cry and bury myst under layers of blankets, not coming out for months-I’ll be so depressed.

    • We have.. theories about that.

I know there will be tears, but honestly I am SO excited about the ID characters and their addition to the story. That’s what I’m looking forward to most.

    • FIRST of all, gotta say YAY doxies! (I have a mini dachshund who kind of stole my non-dog person heart!)

This series is really good… Loren is actually reviewing the whole series tomorrow, so stop back by to see what she thought!

  2. I wasn’t a fan of the last two books, but hopefully this one will be better. In contrast to your love for Malec, I really hate this ship, lol. Particularly Alec. I hate him with a passion. My favorite pairing from this series is probably Simon/Izzy. I just find them really cute together. 🙂

    • I agree, the last two books had a lot of issues with them, but not enough for us to not be obsessively wondering how everything will end.

And I agree about Alec – he just is not my favorite. Especially when you compare him to Will/Jem, Alec just doesn’t hold a candle.

    • No, really I understand what you are saying. The writing is ATROCIOUS and I may have never went on if not for the giant plot twist at the end of the book. I could not keep myself from finding out how that one ended up. So, not weird at all! However, once you pick up book two, you are hooked into the story and there is no going back, lol — which is why we’ve become so obsessive.

Lovely words from lovely people!
