Super 6 Most Original World Building!
Ahh world building. This can make or break a book, especially in the dystopian and fantasy worlds. There are a lot that do it right, but here are six of my favorites.

These Broken Stars
One of my favorite parts of this book was how the authors made the world come to life. I’m not exactly a visual person, but I was able to see everything about the world they created. And I LOVED it.

The Mortal Instruments & The Infernal Devices
I am so intrigued by the world Cassandra Clare created. It’s both separate from and interwoven in our world. It is fascinating, which is why I LOVE that she has created separate series within the world of Shadowhunters and Downworlders.

The world created in this series starts out pretty small: a spaceship headed to a new world. But Beth Revis really creates something fantastic with her world and it continues to grow and expand with each book. This is just a completely amazing series and the world has a lot to do with that.

The Hunger Games
This is a world I NEVER want to live in. But, it was well-crafted and that made the books that much better.

Divergent
The world of Divergent is relatively small — old Chicago. But the society set up, combined with the new world/old world comparison help construct the world in my mind. And while we have NO idea what is coming in Allegiant, I know the fleshing of the rest of the world building will be JUST as amazing.

Harry Potter (series)
DUH! Harry Potter has some of the best of everything: writing, plot, characters, and of course, world-building. This series is just plain perfection.
