Horde
By Ann Aguirre

The horde is coming.

Salvation is surrounded, monsters at the gates, and this time, they’re not going away. When Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan set out, the odds are against them. But the odds have been stacked against Deuce from the moment she was born. She might not be a Huntress anymore, but she doesn’t run. With her knives in hand and her companions at her side, she will not falter, whether fighting for her life or Fade’s love.

Ahead, the battle of a lifetime awaits. Freaks are everywhere, attacking settlements, setting up scouts, perimeters, and patrols. There hasn’t been a war like this in centuries, and humans have forgotten how to stand and fight. Unless Deuce can lead them.

This time, however, more than the fate of a single enclave or outpost hangs in the balance. This time, Deuce carries the banner for the survival of all humanity.

Why I Can’t Wait

There are some books you read that just change you.  They stay with you.  They change the way you see the world.  Enclave was one of these books.  This series starts out in the smallest of worlds: a few underground subway streets.  And the world just keeps getting larger and larger.  And we have the most bad-ass characters: a girl who was bred to be a warrior, a boy who came from a whole different world above ground and made it through hell to reach the safety of the Enclave, another boy who was the leader of a pack of boys who did heinous things — who becomes more and changes in a dynamic way, and finally a girl who was victimized and captured, but comes out stronger because of it.  These characters are so different from any others.  Then there is the secrets of the world — what happened to it and it’s inhabitants is being given to the reader one breadcrumb at a time — we still really don’t know how the world got the way it is.  The novellas in this series, The Foundation and Endurance, and how they fit into the story line of the series make them two of the best novellas I’ve ever read. Seriously.  And then there are the zombies. The zombies that are soooo not zombies. And I must.know.what.they.are.now. Seriously, how could I NOT be waiting on this one?
