Hello {february}, Goodbye {january}

Hello Goodbye is a monthly feature here at Such A Novel Idea highlighting a few of my favorite things from the past month. Enjoy!

Ahh, January. It was a busy month, even if we never got any snow. We added a new reviewer, went to our first book fest, and so much more.  Here’s a few of our favorite things from the first month in 2014!

Favorite Book

Hands down, this book blew me away.  It wasn’t like anything I’ve read in a long time and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!  See my review here.

Infinite-front-final (1)

Of all books, I read last year, this is one series I just could NOT wait to finish.  And so, I made sure I reread Incarnate and Asunder in time so I could begin Infinite as soon as it released to my Kindle. And I did. And there were lots of feelings involved.  And I may be recovering from a major book hangover now, because of feelings.

Can I say the entire TMI series by Cassandra Clare? Is that a cop-out? Okay, so since I have to choose one, it would be City of Glass, because well, if you’ve read the book you understand. I can’t verbally express what this book did to me emotionally…let’s just say that I thought I was going to dye from lack of oxygen.

Favorite Music

Basically, I listened to the “Pompeii” by Bastille Pandora radio station. All month long.  This cd is definitely worth the $10. And you get the MP3 version free when you buy it from Amazon!

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You’ve been here before?

I also picked up this cd this month for $5, which is crazy considering it is gold!  I guess the theme of the month was bands from Britain. I found this acoustic version, which I could play over and over. Just listen.

Well you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you’ll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you’ll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

I haven’t bought any new music because, well because I am a college student–that should speak volumes, if you know what I mean. But I have fallen madly in love with this little band known as Bastille. Seriously, Pompeii and Oblivion are incredible.

Favorite Movies

I’ve now seen this four times and it hasn’t even come out on DVD.  This last time was probably my favorite, because we went as a family to the drive-in movie theater.  We all crawled in the front seat of our tiny SUV and piled on the blankets for a double feature.  Even the dog came!

Jack the Giant Slayer. He’s a giant slayer…need I say more? plus, he isn’t too bad on the eyes.

Favorite TV Shows

I’m an avid fan of Community, so like many fans, season 4 made me cry tears of lava.  I was almost ready to give up on the show, until I found out they brought Dan Harmon back (yay!) .  And honestly, this season has been like a breath of fresh air.  Thank you Dan, cast, and NBC for breathing life back into this amazing show again!

Face Off just started a new season! And I am more than thrilled. The show is basically concept art based of a central theme and idea. it is amazing what these artist can come up with.

It’s Pirates!!! How can you not love a show about pirates?!  I will warn though, it isn’t PG-13, so…

Things that Happened

Loren joined Such a Novel Idea

We went to our first book festival… and it was awesome!

I know we haven’t posted much, but our book fest was all kinds of amazing! We have some great posts and giveaways coming very soon!

I got a hair cut and new glasses… So that was great.

Things We’re Excited about in February

My sweet nephew Sawyer William is turning the big O-N-E on Valentine’s Day, so even though I truly despise the Love Day, the birth of my first nephew makes the day THAT much sweeter.

Book Releases

ignite me

Ignite Me is almost here! Yippee *throws confetti in the air*

the course of true love bane chronicles

The Curse of True Love by Cassandra Clare. So this is a e-book novella but I can’t wait to sink into it because I am basically obsessed with her. If she can make me hyperventilate while reading TMI, then I am sure this book will do the same…and I can’t wait.

The Walking Dead is back! I repeat, The.Walking.Dead.Is.Back.

Well, that’s it!  What were some of your favorites from January?
